Lite info fron SAGA bloggen
As regular readers will know, we only post here when we got new stuff to announce. And today, we have quite a few things to preview, so here we go !
In the next few days, two new units for SAGA will be available. As Egil and the Flemish Mercenaries, they are blister packs with the figures, bases, accessories and rule card included in the package. This card details their background and rules for their inclusion in your games.
The first of these units are the Gall-Gaedhil.

The Sons of Death are famous mercenaries of mixed Norse and Gaelic blood, that can join any Saga warband as Swords for Hire. And I'm pretty sure that their arrival will not go unnoticed! Beware the ones that embrace death like a lover! In the forthcoming days, we will upload their rule card on our forum, so you can make your own opinion on these new Swords for Hire.
The second newcomer is Gunnar Hamundarson, a character that appears in Njal's saga.

This new Hero of the Viking Age may lead any Viking warband and will offer a good alternative to Ragnar or Harlad as Warlord, and offer a new challenge for our Norse players.
Finally, the biggest news is the imminent release of The Raven's Shadow, the second Saga supplement that will hit the shelves next month!

New supplement means new factions. As Northern Fury, The Raven's Shadow offers four brand new and original factions:
- The Franks, that will allow the players to muster either a Merovingian, a Carolingian or a Capetian warband. They will need practice to be used properly, but are one of the most rewarding Saga faction for experienced players.
- The Irish that illustrate the cover. Their focus on individual deeds and heroic feat of arms are translated into their battleboard, and they will offer you the opportunity to field new units on the table as the Curaidh, King's Champions or the famous Irish wolfhounds!
- The Norse-Gaels, Vikings from Ireland or the Orkneys, that introduce a new mechanic to the game: Challenges.
- The Strathclyde Welsh, and their famous ponies. The whol ewarband will usually take the field mounted, and their practice of war is radically different from their southern cousins. Welsh players who want a change from the usual hit and run tactics of their warband will find some new mechanics to explore with this new warband.
Add to these new factions the rules for war banners, an update of the Saga FAQ et you will get a 28 pages supplement well loaded with new stuff!
As we have done for Northern Fury, in the forthcoming weeks we will share some of our playtetsers hindsight and experience with these new factions, with short articles describing each of these new factions. That should keep you busy until the release of the supplement.
Speaking of the release of The Raven's Shadow, the book will be available before its official release date at two shows: Crisis in Antwerp the 3rd November and Warfare in Reading the 17th and 18th November. The general release of the supplement is set the week after Warfare. Note that the Studio Tomahawk staff will be attending both shows.
If you want to book your supplement and figures for these two shows, we can only recommend you to pre-order with our partners of Comitatus (for Crisis) and Gripping Beast (for Warfare) as stocks might be limited.
Stay tuned for new previews!
